Blackwaterfoot Beach, Arran

Service Description

We have some of the lowest tides of the year coming up. Join me at the first light of the day to explore the magical world of edible seaweed. Low tide is very early in the morning so we will spend the short amount of time between first light and low tide foraging for coastal treasures. This is one of two bonus excursions as part of Wildly Being Well, foraging for wellness and is therefore FREE to attend. Each excursion is 2 hours long, we will meet at 06:30am at Blackwaterfoot Beach two day in a row (20th & 21st of Sept). You can attend one or both, your choice. Just click "Book Now" below to book online. You will need: - waterproofs, - reliable shoes, - scissors, - head torch, - a bucket or container for your seaweed and - a hot flask of tea to keep you warm. Heather Lodge is hosting a program called Wellbeing in Nature, which is aimed at improving the mental health of residents on Arran. This event is part of this program. This whole program is entirely FREE. More info on the wider programme as well as other services can be seen here: https://heatherlodge.scot/services/wellbeing-in-nature SAFETY & ACCESSIBILITY: - Coastal foraging requires a decent level of overall fitness - The terrain will be incredibly slippery, this is not suitable for anyone who is prone to serious trips and falls. General clumsiness is fine (join the club!) - You must have good footwear - If you're not sure, please do get in touch If you have any issues with this webpage please get in touch with me zoe@wildfoodarran.com.
